Preparing to set up your Sonos
Before going straight into the home Sonos sound system configuration process, you need to know what preparation is required.
- Download the Sonos app, available on iOS and Android
- Connect your phone to your home Wi-Fi network (without this, you won’t be able to detect the speakers)
- Create an account on the Sonos app
Once these steps have been completed, you can begin to configurate your Sonos system.
Step by step guide: Sonos multi-room system setup
Here are 5 simple steps to follow to configure your home Sonos system.
Step 1: Connect the speaker to an outlet
First of all, you should connect the speaker that you wish to link up to an outlet. Sonos systems require a power outlet to operate unlike wireless speakers.
Once plugged in, the speaker will flash green for 30 seconds. This will also show up on the app.
Step 2: Open the Sonos app
When the speaker is switched on, you can open the Sonos app on your phone. Make sure that your phone is connected to your home Wi-Fi network when you do this.
Step 3: Choose the speaker to connect to
The app will then ask you to choose the speaker that you want to connect to the Sonos sound system (Sonos Five, Sonos Move, etc.). If your app doesn’t detect the speaker you want to connect, it will ask you to select your speaker model type from the list of Sonos products.
Tip: Connect the speakers one after the other if you want to create a house system.
Step 4: Connect the speaker
After having chosen the speaker to set up, the application will try to connect to it. The connection can take several minutes. You’ll need to enter your Wi-Fi password at this stage. The app will inform you once the speaker configuration is complete.
You can connect all Sonos products using the app: speakers, sound bars, subwoofers, etc.

Step 5: Create a Sonos universe!

Tips to get the most out of the Sonos multi-room sound system
To enhance your home Sonos sound system, you can also link your music platform (Spotify, Amazon Music, Deezer, etc.) to your speaker, as well as your voice-controlled virtual assistant (Alexa, Assistant Google, etc.).
To do this, open the Sonos app. In the Settings section, select “Services and Voice”. You’ll then be able to click on “Add a service” in order to set up these two features. The list of services that you can add to the setup will be listed. Select the service that you wish to link to and it’ll all connect in the blink of an eye. ????
