Description

Nine-Channel Class A/B Amplification and Sixteen-Channel Processing

The AVA25 follows ARCAM's engineering tradition, designed in Cambridge, UK. Its Class A/B power section delivers 120 W per channel into 8 ohms with two channels driven (160 W per channel into 4 ohms with two channels driven, 90 W per channel into 8 ohms with all seven channels driven) across the 20 Hz-20 kHz bandwidth. The processor includes sixteen channels of processing, providing pre-outs for additional height or subwoofer channels driven by external power amplifiers on top of the nine internal amplifier channels.

Immersive Formats and HDMI 2.1a Video

The AVA25 natively decodes Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, AURO-3D, and IMAX Enhanced, and drives 7.1.2 or 5.1.4 layouts internally. With the sixteen-channel processor and external amplification, it can scale up to a 9.1.6 configuration. Video connectivity includes seven HDMI inputs and three HDMI outputs conforming to HDMI 2.1a — two Zone 1 outputs and one Zone 2 output — supporting 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG, eARC, VRR, and ALLM.

ESS Hyperstream IV DAC and Dirac Live Correction

An ESS Hyperstream IV digital-to-analog converter handles high-resolution decoding up to 24-bit/192 kHz. The AVA25 ships with Dirac Live Room Correction: the included measurement microphone and 5 m USB cable let the system measure each speaker's response and correct time alignment and frequency response for the listening room. The system is upgradable to Dirac Live Bass Control (multi-subwoofer integration) and Dirac Live Active Room Treatment (ART) through licenses purchased directly from Dirac.

Network Streaming, Bluetooth, and Control

Network streaming covers Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, and UPnP, and the AVA25 is Roon Ready. Bluetooth 5.4 adds Auracast and Snapdragon Sound support. A 6.5-inch front-panel color display shows metadata and status, and a backlit Bluetooth remote is included so the AVA25 can be controlled even when installed inside a closed cabinet. The ARCAM Radia app handles setup and playback control.

Common Questions

Does the AVA25 support 8K video and current-generation gaming consoles?

Yes. The seven HDMI 2.1a inputs and three HDMI 2.1a outputs (two Zone 1 and one Zone 2) support 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz, along with Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG, eARC, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM).

Can the system be expanded beyond nine amplified channels?

Yes. The AVA25 has nine on-board amplification channels, but its processor handles sixteen channels and provides matching pre-outs. Adding external power amplifiers lets the system drive up to a 9.1.6 Dolby Atmos configuration or an equivalent AURO-3D layout.

What room-correction upgrade paths are available?

The AVA25 ships with a Dirac Live Room Correction license. Dirac Live Bass Control (multi-subwoofer integration) and Dirac Live Active Room Treatment (ART) can be purchased separately from Dirac to expand the correction system.

Which streaming services and file formats are supported?

The AVA25 natively supports Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, and UPnP, and it is Roon Ready. Its network section handles high-resolution audio files up to 24-bit/192 kHz (FLAC, WAV, ALAC, AIFF, MQA) as well as DSD playback. Bluetooth 5.4 with Auracast and Snapdragon Sound completes the wireless side.

What is the difference vs the AVA15?

The AVA25 replaces the AVA15's Class D amplification with a higher-power Class A/B stage (120 W into 8 ohms with 2 channels driven vs 100 W), moves from 12 to 16 channels of processing, adds AURO-3D and IMAX Enhanced decoding, adds a Zone 2 HDMI output, and integrates an ESS Hyperstream IV DAC. Both models share Dirac Live, HDMI 2.1a, Roon Ready, Bluetooth 5.4, and the 6.5-inch display.
