Description

ARCAM's Class G Amplification

The AVA35 uses ARCAM's Class G amplification topology, a hybrid design that switches between two supply rails: a lower-voltage rail for low-level signals to reduce crossover distortion, and a higher-voltage rail that engages on dynamic peaks. This architecture delivers 100 W per channel into 8 ohms with all nine channels driven, and up to 145 W per channel into 8 ohms with two channels driven. Across the 20 Hz-20 kHz bandwidth, the amplification stage aims to keep the linearity of a two-channel design while holding multichannel peaks.

Sixteen-Channel Processing and Channel Matrix

The processor includes sixteen channels of audio processing and decodes Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, IMAX Enhanced, and AURO-3D. A channel-assignment matrix lets the internal amplifiers and pre-outs be reassigned to fit the actual speaker layout. The system can scale up to 9.1.6 with external power amplifiers driven from the pre-outs.

Dirac Live Correction and HDMI 2.1a Video

The AVA35 ships with Dirac Live Room Correction. Using the included measurement microphone and the supplied 5 m USB cable, the system measures each speaker's response and corrects time alignment and frequency response for the listening room. Dirac Live Bass Control (multi-subwoofer integration) and Dirac Live Active Room Treatment (ART) can be added through licenses purchased directly from Dirac. On the video side, seven HDMI inputs and three HDMI outputs (two Zone 1 and one Zone 2) conform to HDMI 2.1a and support 8K at 60 Hz, 4K at 120 Hz, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG, eARC, VRR, and ALLM.

Network Streaming, Bluetooth, and Control

Network streaming covers Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, and UPnP, and the AVA35 is Roon Ready. Bluetooth 5.4 adds Auracast and Snapdragon Sound support. A 6.5-inch front-panel color display shows metadata and status (with the Radia line's signature backlit halo around the volume dial). A backlit Bluetooth remote is included so the AVA35 can be controlled even when installed inside a closed cabinet, and the ARCAM Radia app handles setup and playback control.

Common Questions

Why choose this product?

The AVA35 is the top-tier AV receiver in ARCAM's Radia line. Its Class G amplification — the brand's historical topology — aims to keep two-channel-quality listening while holding multichannel peaks. Combined with a sixteen-channel processor, Dirac Live, HDMI 2.1a, and Roon Ready, it makes a coherent base for a high-end system.

What is Class G and how does it differ from Class D or A/B?

Class G uses two supply rails: a low-voltage rail that handles low-level signals (reducing crossover distortion), and a high-voltage rail that engages on dynamic peaks. It aims to combine Class A/B linearity with better efficiency. In the Radia line, the AVA15 uses Class D, the AVA25 uses Class A/B, and the AVA35 uses Class G.

Can the system be expanded beyond nine amplified channels?

Yes. The AVA35 has nine on-board amplification channels, but its processor handles sixteen channels and provides matching pre-outs. Adding external power amplifiers lets the system drive up to a 9.1.6 Dolby Atmos configuration or an equivalent AURO-3D layout. The channel-assignment matrix also lets the internal amplifiers be reassigned as needed.

What room-correction upgrade paths are available?

The AVA35 ships with a Dirac Live Room Correction license. Dirac Live Bass Control (multi-subwoofer integration) and Dirac Live Active Room Treatment (ART) can be purchased separately from Dirac to expand the correction system.

Which streaming services and file formats are supported?

The AVA35 natively supports Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, and UPnP, and it is Roon Ready. It handles high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/192 kHz (FLAC, WAV, ALAC, AIFF, MQA) as well as DSD playback. Bluetooth 5.4 with Auracast and Snapdragon Sound completes the wireless side.

What is the difference vs the AVA15 and AVA25?

The AVA15 uses Class D with 12 processing channels. The AVA25 uses Class A/B with 16 processing channels, a Zone 2 output, and an ESS Hyperstream IV DAC. The AVA35 steps up to ARCAM's Class G (100 W with all nine channels driven, 145 W with two channels driven) while keeping the 16 processing channels, Zone 2, and AURO-3D + IMAX Enhanced decoding. All three share Dirac Live, HDMI 2.1a, Roon Ready, Bluetooth 5.4 with Auracast and Snapdragon Sound, and the 6.5-inch display with the Radia backlit volume halo.
