Key features

The ARCAM Radia AVP45 is the sixteen-channel AV processor in the Radia line, with no internal amplification. It is designed to feed one or more external power amplifiers (for example the ARCAM Radia PA9 Class G) in the most demanding installations. It supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, IMAX Enhanced, and AURO-3D, and provides balanced XLR pre-outs and single-ended RCA outputs on all sixteen channels. HDMI 2.1a connectivity (seven inputs, three outputs including a Zone 2 output) handles 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz video, and the unit integrates Dirac Live room correction and a 6.5-inch color display on the front panel.

Description

Sixteen-Channel Processor with ARCAM's Reference DAC Architecture

The AVP45 is built around a sixteen-channel decoding and processing platform. Its digital-to-analog stage uses the same converter architecture as ARCAM's reference stereo components, aiming to preserve tonal balance, resolution, and timing across all sixteen channels. There is no internal amplification: the AVP45 is intended to be paired with one or more external power amplifiers, such as the ARCAM Radia PA9 Class G amp.

Balanced XLR Pre-Outs on All Sixteen Channels

Every processed channel is available on both a balanced XLR pre-out and a single-ended RCA output. The balanced topology rejects common-mode noise and electromagnetic interference, helping preserve a low noise floor and full dynamic range even with long cable runs between the AVP45 and the power amplifiers. A Matrix Channel Assignment function lets the sixteen outputs be reassigned to fit the actual speaker layout; subwoofers can be routed to channel 4 as well as channels 11 through 16 for multi-subwoofer setups.

Immersive Formats, HDMI 2.1a, and Dirac Live Correction

The AVP45 natively decodes Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, IMAX Enhanced, and AURO-3D. Video connectivity includes seven HDMI inputs and three HDMI outputs conforming to HDMI 2.1a — two Zone 1 outputs and one Zone 2 output — supporting 8K at 60 Hz, 4K at 120 Hz, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG, eARC, VRR, and ALLM. Dirac Live Room Correction is included (measurement microphone and 5 m USB cable in the box) and is upgradable to Dirac Live Bass Control and Dirac Live Active Room Treatment (ART) through licenses purchased directly from Dirac.

Network Streaming, Bluetooth, and Control

Network streaming covers Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, and UPnP, and the AVP45 is Roon Ready. Bluetooth 5.4 adds Auracast and Snapdragon Sound support. A 6.5-inch front-panel color display shows metadata and status (with the Radia line's signature backlit halo around the volume dial). A backlit Bluetooth remote is included so the AVP45 can be controlled even when installed inside a closed cabinet, and the ARCAM Radia app handles setup and playback control.

Common Questions

Why choose this product?

The AVP45 is the sixteen-channel AV processor in ARCAM's Radia line. It is aimed at installations where amplification is handled by dedicated power amps (such as ARCAM's PA9) and where balanced XLR pre-outs on all sixteen channels are a requirement.

How does the AVP45 differ from the AVA25 and AVA35 receivers?

The AVP45 has no internal amplification — it provides only the sixteen preamplified channels (XLR + RCA) to feed an external amplifier. The AVA25 and AVA35 are receivers that bundle nine channels of internal amplification (Class A/B and Class G respectively) with the processor. Choose the AVP45 when you want to run separate power amps (for more output, more powered channels, and independent replacement of each block); choose the AVA25 or AVA35 when a single-box solution is preferred.

Is the Dirac Live license included?

Yes. The AVP45 ships with a Dirac Live Room Correction license, along with the measurement microphone and 5 m USB cable required for calibration. Dirac Live Bass Control (multi-subwoofer integration) and Dirac Live Active Room Treatment (ART) can be purchased separately from Dirac to extend the correction system.

What is the benefit of balanced XLR pre-outs on all sixteen channels?

Balanced XLR outputs reject common-mode noise and electromagnetic interference between the processor and the power amplifiers. This helps preserve a low noise floor and full dynamic range and matters most in larger installations where cable runs between the processor and the power amps are long, or where multiple amplifiers sit in separate racks.

Can I use multiple subwoofers with the AVP45?

Yes. The channel-assignment matrix allows subwoofers to be routed to output channel 4 as well as channels 11 through 16, enabling multi-subwoofer setups distributed across the listening room. The optional Dirac Live Bass Control upgrade further improves multi-subwoofer integration.

What video resolutions and gaming features are supported?

The seven HDMI 2.1a inputs and three HDMI 2.1a outputs (two Zone 1 and one Zone 2) support 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz, along with Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG, eARC, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) for current-generation gaming consoles.
