Description

Description

7 × 95 W Amplification and Dolby Atmos / DTS:X Processing

The AVR-X2900H amplifies 7 channels at 95 W per channel into 8 ohms (20 Hz-20 kHz, THD 0.08%, two channels driven) and processes up to 7.1 channels. It decodes Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, with Dolby Surround and DTS Neural:X for upmixing non-native sources. Its channel count fits a 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos configuration, a traditional 7.1 setup, or a system with Front A/B speakers and bi-amplification, thanks to assignable rear binding posts (bi-amp, Zone 2, and Front A/B assignable). Denon's 70% Guarantee ensures at least 70% of rated power is available when driving up to five channels.

HDMI 2.1 (8K/60 Hz, 4K/120 Hz) and Gaming Features

The HDMI inputs are HDMI 2.1 and support 8K up to 60 Hz, 4K up to 120 Hz, HDCP 2.3, HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG, and Dynamic HDR. VRR, ALLM, QFT, and AMD FreeSync are supported for recent consoles (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X). Two HDMI outputs are provided, one of which supports HDMI eARC to receive Dolby Atmos and DTS:X streams from a modern TV's built-in apps.

Audyssey MultEQ XT with Dirac Live Compatibility

The receiver includes Audyssey MultEQ XT (multi-position measurement via the supplied microphone) with Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume. It is also compatible with Dirac Live Room Correction as an upgrade: the Dirac license is purchased separately and installed online, then replaces Audyssey for room correction. Two subwoofer outputs are provided on the rear panel (mirrored — same signal and EQ applied to both, for one or two subwoofers wired in parallel), and a 2.2-channel pre-out allows an external power amplifier to drive the front channels.

HEOS Built-In, MM Phono, Zone 2, and Bluetooth Headphone Output

On the streaming side, HEOS Built-In gives direct access to Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Amazon Music, Deezer, TuneIn, and Roon; Apple AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth are supported, along with dual-band Wi-Fi and an Ethernet port. A rear MM phono input is included for a turntable, and rear connectivity also includes two optical, one coaxial, and four analog RCA inputs. The receiver has a Zone 2 (line-level pre-out) and a Bluetooth headphone transmitter that streams audio to a compatible headphone for private listening; sound can also play through the speakers and the Bluetooth headphone simultaneously. Control is available via the remote, the Denon AVR Remote app, or a built-in web interface.

Common Questions

Can I connect a turntable directly?

Yes. The rear panel includes a moving-magnet (MM) phono input, so an MM-cartridge turntable can connect directly without an external phono stage. A grounding post is provided next to the input.

How many subwoofers can be connected, and how are they managed?

The AVR-X2900H has two RCA subwoofer outputs. The signal sent to both outputs is identical and the same EQ is applied to both subwoofers, so one or two subwoofers can be connected in parallel. Independent per-sub calibration is not offered at this tier; it is available starting with the X3900H.

Does the AVR-X2900H support Dirac Live?

Yes, as an optional upgrade. Dirac Live Room Correction is available through a license purchased separately from Dirac; once activated, the Dirac license replaces Audyssey MultEQ XT for room correction. Dirac Live Bass Control is not offered at this tier.

Can I send audio to Bluetooth headphones?

Yes. The AVR-X2900H includes a Bluetooth transmitter that streams audio to compatible Bluetooth headphones for private listening. Audio can also play through the speakers and the Bluetooth headphone at the same time, which is useful for shared listening when a family member prefers the headphone output.
