Three years in the making, FiiO's EA13 is a full-size tube integrated amplifier that rethinks the visual language of the genre. A unibody chassis with commanding presence, a CNC-machined aviation-grade aluminum front panel (thickened and sandblasted for a refined tactile finish and resonance suppression), recessed tube mounting with an integrated protective cover: every element is engineered to marry modern and timeless. This isn't an accessory — it's the heart of a listening system, designed to be seen, touched, and to last.

Six imported tubes: SYLVANIA NOS PCF80 preamp + JJ EL34 power

At the heart of the signal: two SYLVANIA NOS PCF80 tubes, made by one of America's premier tube manufacturers, handle voltage amplification — refined, transparent sound, open and natural soundstage. Four JJ Electronic EL34 tubes (made in the Czech Republic), classic European power tubes, drive the final amplification stage — warm, full-bodied sound with the unmistakable tube character no solid-state equivalent quite reproduces.

Custom output transformers, audiophile-grade components

No expense spared: the EI silicon-steel output transformers are custom-made, filled with epoxy resin and fine sand, then sealed in a robust enclosure. The result: vibration suppression, electromagnetic shielding, moisture resistance, and enhanced stability and longevity. Add large-capacity Japanese NCC filter electrolytic capacitors for a pure power supply, and high-quality axial metal-film coupling capacitors with low loss and low distortion, and you get a darker background, tighter bass, and more refined treble.

Professional connectivity and system integration

The rear panel carries four unbalanced RCA analog inputs (high-quality encoder-based selector), two separate 4 Ω and 8 Ω speaker binding-post pairs, and a 3.5 mm Trigger In for automation. A 115 V / 230 V voltage selector makes the unit worldwide-compatible. The signal-detection circuit triggers auto standby after 30 minutes without a signal to reduce consumption and extend tube life.

What speakers can it drive?

With 28 W + 28 W in Class A push-pull on dedicated 4 Ω and 8 Ω taps, the EA13 drives most bookshelf speakers and even select floorstanders with medium-to-high sensitivity. To get the most out of the tube amp, favor efficient speakers (≥ 88 dB sensitivity) and avoid very demanding loads that drop very low in impedance. Selecting the right tap (4 or 8 Ω) for your speakers optimizes performance.

What should I know about the headphone output?

The EA13 has a 6.35 mm single-ended headphone output designed for headphones from 16 to 300 Ω: 30 mW+30 mW at 16 Ω, 60 mW+60 mW at 32 Ω, and 185 mW+185 mW at 300 Ω. It's suitable for most dynamic headphones and for more sensitive planar-magnetic models, but the most demanding planar-magnetic headphones may benefit from a dedicated higher-power headphone amplifier. The headphone output automatically mutes the speaker outputs when a headphone is plugged in.

Can I replace the tubes myself?

Yes. The tubes are easily accessible thanks to the recessed mounting under the protective cover. A replacement set should match the original specifications: 2 × PCF80 for the preamp stage and 4 × EL34 for the power stage. FiiO selected these tubes for the intended sonic signature; substituting with different brands will change the signature. The built-in signal-detection circuit and auto standby (30 min without signal) naturally extend tube life.
