TI TPA3255 Class D Amplifier with PFFB

The Level 1 uses the Texas Instruments TPA3255 digital amplifier chip (PurePath Ultra-HD topology) with a post-filter feedback (PFFB) loop that reduces output noise, output impedance, and residual distortion. With the included 48 V / 5 A power supply, FiiO rates the amplifier at 2 × 120 W into 4 ohms with total harmonic distortion + noise below 0.05% (THD+N). Frequency response is quoted at 20 Hz to 40 kHz with a signal-to-noise ratio above 105 dB. The circuit can scale higher with a more powerful external supply, but this is not the shipping configuration.

Digital Inputs, Bluetooth 6.0, and Outputs

Three inputs are provided: USB-C (PCM up to 24-bit/96 kHz), coaxial (PCM up to 24-bit/192 kHz), and analog RCA line. Wireless input uses Bluetooth 6.0 with SBC, AAC, and LDAC codec support (up to 990 kbps). An RGB indicator behind the volume knob shows the active input and the current Bluetooth codec. The rear panel provides speaker binding posts for passive speakers, a dedicated subwoofer output (SW OUT), and a pre-amplifier output (PRE OUT) for pairing with an external power amplifier.

Build, Components, and Parametric EQ

The chassis combines an aluminum-alloy shell with real-wood side panels, with separate rotary knobs for volume, bass, and treble. Internally, a six-layer immersion-gold thick-copper PCB, fully shielded power inductors, and capacitors from WIMA (Germany), Nichicon, and ELNA (Japan) aim to limit noise and maintain signal stability. The FiiO Control app exposes a parametric equalizer for the digital inputs (USB, coaxial, and Bluetooth); the analog RCA line input is not covered by these settings.

What digital resolutions does the Level 1 accept?

The USB-C input accepts PCM up to 24-bit/96 kHz. The coaxial digital input accepts PCM up to 24-bit/192 kHz. These cover the most common streaming and high-resolution file resolutions used at home.

Can I add a subwoofer or an external power amplifier?

Yes. The rear panel includes a dedicated subwoofer output (SW OUT) for building a 2.1 configuration, and a pre-amplifier output (PRE OUT) that sends the line-level signal to an external power amplifier.

Does the parametric EQ work on every input?

The parametric EQ in the FiiO Control app is available for the digital inputs — USB, coaxial, and Bluetooth. The analog RCA line input is not covered by those settings; it uses only the front-panel bass and treble tone controls.
