The Rega Apheta 3 represents the culmination of more than 15 years of development in moving coil cartridge design. Building on the groundbreaking Apheta 2, this third-generation model pushes performance even further with advanced materials, precision engineering, and Rega’s unique philosophy of undamped micro-mass generation systems housed in jointless bodies.

Fine line stylus for greater detail extraction
At the heart of the Apheta 3 lies a fine line nude diamond stylus, mounted at 90 degrees—an advanced profile also used in Rega’s flagship Aphelion 2. This highly precise geometry allows the stylus to extract extraordinary levels of musical detail from the record groove, ensuring improved clarity, resolution, and fidelity across the entire frequency spectrum.

Compact iron micro-cross generator
The Apheta 3 incorporates a meticulously hand-wound coil mounted on an iron micro-cross assembly that is 50% smaller than in the original Apheta. This reduction in mass allows the cartridge to track the groove with greater accuracy and agility, capturing micro-dynamics with ease. Combined with an ultra-high-powered neodymium magnet system, the generator delivers exceptional speed, transparency, and balance.

Rigid aluminium body for precision and stability
The cartridge is housed in a CNC-machined, single-piece aluminium anodised body, offering unmatched rigidity and zero-tolerance precision. A CAD-designed smoked rigid cover protects the delicate internal wiring, making handling and installation both safe and reliable. This robust construction ensures maximum mechanical integrity and long-term stability.

A suspension-free design for purity of sound
Unlike conventional MC cartridges that rely on a tie-wire and foam damping—both of which can introduce resonances and degrade over time—the Apheta 3 employs Rega’s unique rhomboid pivot system. This suspension-free design eliminates unwanted resonances, producing crystal-clear treble, firm bass, and an organic midrange that remains true to the original recording.
