The Rega Fono MC MK4 is a dedicated moving coil (MC) phono stage engineered to unlock the full potential of low-output MC cartridges. While designed to perfectly complement Rega’s own range of MC cartridges, it offers wide compatibility thanks to adjustable gain and loading options, controlled via convenient DIP switches located on the rear panel.

Designed for pure musicality
At the heart of the Fono MC MK4 is the Linear Systems LSK389 low-noise FET input stage. Its high input impedance minimizes loading effects on the cartridge, ensuring that musical information is retrieved with maximum precision and minimal distortion. This careful design allows the unit to capture every nuance and subtlety of the vinyl groove.

High-precision RIAA circuitry
The equalization stage features a high-grade MUSE operational amplifier chosen for its low noise and outstanding linearity. Polypropylene capacitors are employed throughout the signal path and in the RIAA equalization stages to ensure accuracy and long-term stability. The circuit achieves a precision of better than ±0.2 dB between 100 Hz and 100 kHz, providing faithful reproduction across the full frequency spectrum.

Flexible loading and gain options
The Fono MC MK4 provides user-selectable input resistance, capacitance, and gain to suit a wide variety of MC cartridges. Options include resistance values from 70 Ω to 400 Ω, capacitance from 1000 pF to 4300 pF, and gain settings of either 63.5 dB or 69.5 dB. These adjustments ensure optimal matching with most low-output MC cartridges available today.

Modern casework and integration
Housed in a newly redesigned aluminium chassis, the Fono MC MK4 matches the aesthetic of the Neo MK2 PSU and Fono MM MK5. The sleek, contemporary design allows for seamless integration into any hi-fi system while offering improved durability and system synergy.
