The Nd7 moving magnet cartridge represents over a decade of meticulous development, delivering unparalleled performance from moving magnet technology. As part of the patent-pending Nd range, it is the first cartridge in the world to incorporate ultra-high-powered Neodymium magnets within a moving magnet design, creating a uniquely powerful and precise audio reproduction system.

Advanced stylus and tracking technology
Each Nd7 is carefully hand-assembled by skilled technicians and features Rega’s most advanced “fine line” nude diamond profile, the same used on high-end MC models such as the Apheta 3 and Aphelion 2. The monocrystalline diamond has a minor radius of just 3µm across the top and 30µm vertically, allowing the stylus to respond instantly to minute vinyl variations. This design extracts exceptional detail and clarity, ensuring superior audio fidelity for discerning vinyl enthusiasts.

Optimized generator and coil design
The Nd7 utilizes an innovative generator geometry with perfect symmetry for accurate channel balance, coupled with an optimized pole gap for excellent linearity and reduced cross talk. Miniaturized parallel coils are wound in-house using 38-micron wire with 1275 turns, producing low inductance and low impedance. The result is vastly improved high-frequency response and a wider soundstage than previous models.

Neodymium magnet technology
Drawing inspiration from moving coil designs, the Nd7 is the first moving magnet cartridge to employ a Neodymium N55 magnet, the most powerful commercially available magnet. This enables higher output and more dynamic performance than standard bar magnets, making it a revolutionary design in moving magnet technology.

Lightweight, rigid PPS body
Housed in a glass-filled polyphenylene sulphide (PPS) body, the Nd7 is both lightweight and extremely rigid. This zero-tolerance injection-molded construction reduces tonearm stress and promotes free movement, critical for accurate vinyl playback. The body design is derived from Rega’s successful MC range, combining durability with high-fidelity performance.

Factory-fitted options and rebuild scheme
The Nd7 is available as a factory-fitted option on the award-winning Planar 6 and Planar 8 turntables, offering a seamless integration that maximizes the performance of these models. Rega also provides a rebuild scheme, allowing users to return worn or damaged cartridges to receive a fully tested replacement fitted with a new cantilever, stylus, and pivot pad at a reduced cost.
