At the core of the Era 100 SL is the same acoustic platform used in the Era 100. The speaker employs a dual-tweeter architecture combined with a mid-woofer, producing true stereo output from a single compact enclosure.
Two angled tweeters disperse high frequencies across the room to create a wide stereo soundstage, while the mid-woofer delivers balanced midrange detail and deeper bass than previous compact Sonos speakers. A larger woofer and improved internal processing contribute to richer bass response and greater clarity across the frequency range.
This acoustic design allows the Era 100 SL to deliver room-filling sound that feels expansive and detailed despite its modest footprint.

Flexible Connectivity and Streaming
The Era 100 SL supports both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth streaming, allowing it to function as a fully integrated component within a Sonos multi-room system or as a standalone wireless speaker.
Over Wi-Fi, the speaker connects directly to the Sonos platform, providing access to hundreds of streaming services and enabling synchronized playback across multiple rooms. Can these speakers be used as rear surround channels in a home theatre system?

Yes. The Sonos Era 100 SL is fully compatible as a rear speaker pair when combined with a Sonos soundbar such as the Arc Ultra or Beam (Gen 2). The Sonos app handles the pairing and channel assignment wirelessly — no audio cables required between speakers and soundbar.

What is the difference between the Era 100 and the Era 100 SL?

The only difference is that the Era 100 includes a built-in microphone for voice control via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, while the Era 100 SL does not. The SL version is otherwise acoustically identical — same drivers, same amplifiers, same connectivity, same design.

Do I need a separate receiver or amplifier to use these speakers?

No. Each Era 100 SL is an active (self-amplified) speaker with three built-in Class-D digital amplifiers. Simply plug them into power, connect to your WiFi network via the Sonos app, and they are ready to play. No external amplification is required.

Can I connect a turntable directly to the Sonos Era 100 SL?

Yes, using the optional Sonos Line-In Adapter (sold separately). The adapter connects to the USB-C port on the back of the speaker and accepts a standard 3.5 mm auxiliary input, allowing you to feed audio from a turntable (with a built-in phono preamp), CD player, or computer audio output into the Sonos system.

Does the Sonos Era 100 SL support Apple AirPlay 2?
