The Lumina Center I is the dedicated 2-way center channel of Sonus faber's Lumina collection. It is designed to complete a home theater system based on the Lumina loudspeakers — the Lumina I and II stand-mount models and the Lumina III and V floorstanders — ensuring rigorous tonal coherence across the front soundstage. Its low-profile horizontal format (16.9 cm tall) integrates easily under a television or in an A/V console. It is Sonus faber's entry point for center channels in the current catalog, below the Sonetto Center and Olympica G3 Center.

29 mm DAD Kurtmueller Silk Tweeter

High frequencies are handled by the 29 mm Damped Apex Dome (DAD) tweeter, an architecture inherited from higher Sonus faber series. The Kurtmueller hand-coated silk soft dome receives localized mechanical damping at its apex, which prevents the anti-phase behavior that affects soft domes at high excursion and often causes early high-frequency roll-off. Response extends to 24 kHz without listening fatigue, essential for the intelligibility of sibilants and consonants in dialogue.

Two 120 mm Mid-Woofers in Cellulose Pulp and Natural Fibers

The mid and low register is handled by two 120 mm mid-woofers, custom-developed by Sonus faber for the Lumina collection, with an in-house basket. The membrane is a blend of traditional cellulose pulp and natural fibers, a material choice that avoids the aggressive resonances of metal cones and delivers a natural tonality. The two mid-woofers are arranged on either side of the tweeter (MTM configuration), a topology particularly well-suited to the horizontal center channel format.

Italian Construction: Multilayer Wood Baffle and Leather

The front baffle is made of rigid multilayer wood (high-density plywood) that minimizes cabinet resonance and provides a stable support for the drivers. Yes, the compact 16.9 cm height allows installation in most standard A/V cabinet compartments. Yes, for home theater use. The Lumina Center I extends down to 65 Hz, which covers the fundamentals of human voices but leaves the bottom of the spectrum to the main channels and a dedicated subwoofer. For a complete multichannel system, configure your home theater processor to redirect all frequencies below 80 Hz to the subwoofer via a standard crossover. The LFE effects track of modern films regularly extends below 40 Hz and requires a dedicated subwoofer.
