The Sonetto Center G2 is the dedicated center channel of the second-generation Sonetto collection. Its key differentiator: it is a true 3-way system with a dedicated midrange driver, unlike the 2-way center speakers (two identical midwoofers flanking a tweeter) that dominate the market. This architectural decision has a specific goal: to reproduce dialog and human voices with the same acoustic architecture as the Sonetto floorstanders in the same collection, so that timbre remains identical when a sound moves across the front stage. Hand-built in the Sonus faber workshops in Vicenza, Italy.

4" Camelia Midrange Inherited from the Flagship Suprema

The midrange driver is a 4" version of the Camelia midrange developed for the Suprema and used in the Sonetto V G2 (6.5") and VIII G2 (6.5"). It carries an organic membrane left unpainted to preserve sound purity: shaped after the camelia flower with five cuts, it deliberately breaks the circular resonances that affect standard cones. It is housed in its own sealed chamber (with copper shorting ring), isolated from the bass-reflex load of the woofers, which eliminates intermodulation between the vocal range and the lower frequencies — crucial for dialog intelligibility in action scenes.

1.1" DAD™ Arrow Point Tweeter with Neodymium Magnet

The Damped Apex Dome (DAD) tweeter, a 1.1" (28 mm) Arrow Point configuration, uses a neodymium magnet here (rather than ferrite), a choice dictated by the constrained horizontal cabinet format. Its sonic signature is identical to the one used in the other Sonetto G2 models: apex damping on the silk dome, copper shorting ring, response extending up to 40 kHz. Result: the highs of sound effects, sibilants, and vocal articulation stay perfectly aligned with the left and right Sonetto floorstanders.

Dual 6.5" Woofers, Rear-Vented Bass Reflex

The two 6.5" woofers are fitted with aluminum demodulation rings (to reduce motor distortion) and loaded in a rear-vented bass-reflex enclosure. This configuration gives 45 Hz of extension, allowing the center channel to reproduce the fundamentals of male voices and mid-bass impacts without relying solely on the subwoofer. Crossover points at 350 Hz (woofers to midrange) and 4,000 Hz (midrange to tweeter).

Lute-Shaped Cabinet with Leather Flange

The cabinet, in a lute shape, eliminates internal parallel walls to suppress standing waves. The front baffle features a hand-crafted genuine leather flange — the Italian tradition of leather craftsmanship applied to a loudspeaker, an artisanal signature unique in luxury high-fidelity. Wood veneer and magnetic fabric grille complete the aesthetic. A tilting base is included to angle the acoustic center toward the listening position.

Frequently Asked Questions 

How does it differ from a typical 2-way center channel?

A 2-way center channel uses two identical midwoofers flanking a tweeter (MTM configuration). This approach often produces horizontal interference (lobing) and degraded vocal intelligibility off-axis. The Sonetto Center G2 uses a 3-way architecture with a dedicated 4" Camelia midrange, housed in its own sealed chamber, flanked by the two 6.5" woofers. Result: superior vocal intelligibility and a smoother tonal match with the front speakers.

Is it compatible with first-generation Sonetto speakers?

Technically yes — it will work with any AV receiver or multichannel processor. However, for a timbre perfectly aligned with the fronts, it is optimized for the Sonetto G2 collection, which uses the Camelia midrange and the DAD Arrow Point tweeter. With first-generation Sonetto speakers, the pairing remains good, but tonal coherence will not be as absolute as with the corresponding V G2 and VIII G2 models.

Where should the Sonetto Center G2 be placed?

Ideally at the exact center below or above the screen, on a rigid low cabinet, with the tweeter aimed at the primary listening position. The included tilting base allows the acoustic center to be angled upward or downward depending on the height of the cabinet. Because the woofers are rear-vented, leave at least 15 to 20 cm of clearance between the back of the speaker and the wall.
