The Sonetto II G2 is the flagship bookshelf model in the new-generation Sonetto range, positioned above the more compact Sonetto I G2. It targets listeners who want the full Sonus faber signature — lute shape, DAD tweeter, leather top panel — but prefer the bookshelf format to a floorstander. At 41.4 cm tall and 10.4 kg per speaker, it can sit on a solid shelf, a dense low cabinet, or (recommended) on the dedicated Sonetto Stands. Hand-built in Vicenza, Italy.

Intono Technology: Reserved for the Sonetto I and II

Intono technology, specific to the Sonetto I and II bookshelf models, sits between the bass-reflex duct and the internal acoustic chamber of the cabinet. Its role is to eliminate the spurious frequencies and distortions that generate inside the cabinet during driver operation. Measurable result: an acoustically quieter cabinet, which opens up the midrange and clarifies the low-level detail that gives a recording its sense of air.

1.1" DAD™ Arrow Point Tweeter and 6.5" Midwoofer

The Damped Apex Dome (DAD) tweeter, a 1.1" (28 mm) Arrow Point with copper shorting ring, extends response up to 40 kHz. Localized damping at the apex of the silk dome eliminates the anti-phase behavior typical of standard soft domes at high excursion. The 6.5" midwoofer is mounted on an organic basket — the same asymmetrical architecture used in the flagship Reference and Homage collections — which eliminates repeating reinforcement patterns and improves airflow around the driver. Aluminum demodulation ring on the motor to reduce distortion.

Front-Firing Bass Reflex Port: Flexible Placement

Unlike the floorstanders in the same collection whose ports are down-firing or rear-firing, the Sonetto II G2 uses a front-firing bass-reflex port. This architectural choice makes placement noticeably more tolerant: near-wall placement, corner placement, or a freestanding configuration all work without a marked loss of bass definition. Measured extension: 42 Hz — impressive for a speaker of this size.

Lute-Shaped Cabinet with Concrete Bottom

The cabinet retains the signature lute shape that eliminates internal parallel walls and suppresses standing waves at the source. The bottom of the cabinet is solid concrete to lower the center of gravity and damp mechanical vibrations. The top panel is wrapped in leather stamped with the Sonus faber logo. Three finishes: walnut, wenge, or piano black high-gloss. Phase Coherent crossover network with phase-aligned drivers.

Positioning and Dedicated Stands

Within the Sonetto G2 collection, the Sonetto II G2 sits above the more compact Sonetto I G2 and below the Sonetto III/V/VIII G2 floorstanders. To fully unlock its capabilities, the dedicated Sonetto Stands (aluminum, concrete, and iron steel construction, 68.7 cm tall, 6.5 kg each, sold separately) bolt directly into the base of the speaker to create a single mechanically unified assembly that places the tweeter at the optimal listening height.
