Description

Optical Transmission Immune to Electrical Interference

The Syncwire SW-OPTI uses a plastic optical fiber core protected by polyethylene (PE) insulation. The audio travels as light, so the link is immune to the ground loops and electromagnetic interference that can affect a copper connection. A polished lens at each end carries S/PDIF stereo PCM as well as the compressed Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 surround formats.

Durable Build and Reinforced Connectors

Each Toslink plug is housed in black anodized aluminum with a gold-plated copper collar, which resists corrosion and keeps a firm grip inside the optical port. The cable is wrapped in a 6 mm black PVC outer jacket that stands up to the twisting of a run behind furniture or inside a wall. Eight lengths are offered to cover anything from a short television-to-soundbar link to a run through to an equipment closet.

Which audio formats does it support?

It carries the S/PDIF Toslink standard: uncompressed stereo PCM, Dolby Digital 5.1, and DTS 5.1. It cannot carry HD lossless formats (Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Atmos over TrueHD) — those require an HDMI or HDMI eARC connection.

Which devices is this cable meant for?

Any audio or video device with a Toslink input or output: television, CD player or network streamer, game console, soundbar, AV receiver, integrated DAC. For a recent television without a Toslink output, use HDMI eARC instead.
