Coreless Direct Drive Motor and Superior Stability
The SL-1200GME employs a twin-rotor brushless DC motor with a coreless construction to eliminate cogging. This direct drive system ensures smooth, consistent rotation across 33⅓, 45, and 78 rpm playback speeds. The motor delivers 0.32 N·m of starting torque, reaching 33⅓ rpm in just 0.7 seconds, supported by an electronic braking system. With a wow and flutter value of only 0.025% W.R.M.S., the rotation remains exceptionally stable and precise.

Enhanced ΔΣ-Drive Technology
The upgraded ΔΣ-Drive system boosts the PWM carrier frequency from approximately 2 kHz to beyond 20 kHz. This minimizes audible noise and micro-vibrations while enhancing transient response and tonal accuracy. Combined with Technics’ current injection noise-cancelling circuits and a multi-stage power supply, the drive system provides unmatched signal purity and mechanical precision.

A brass and aluminum die-cast platter measuring 332 mm in diameter delivers exceptional balance and damping, weighing approximately 3.6 kg with its rubber mat. The three-layer platter design, reinforced by a four-layer cabinet incorporating aluminum, BMC, and rubber, eliminates unwanted resonance and structural vibrations. A zinc insulator system utilizing αGEL™ material further isolates the chassis, maintaining stability across playback surfaces.

Magnesium Tonearm with Adjustable Geometry
The static-balance tonearm is crafted from lightweight magnesium through cold drawing for superior rigidity. With an effective length of 230 mm and a 15 mm overhang, it maintains a minimal tracking error—within 2°32’ on the outer groove and 0°32’ on the inner groove. The tonearm features a 0–6 mm height adjustment and a stylus pressure range of 0–4 g for precise cartridge optimization. It supports multiple cartridge weights via interchangeable auxiliary counterweights and a universal 12.7 mm (½") mount.

Optimized Circuit Design and Silent Power Supply
The Multi-Stage Silent Power Supply combines a high-speed switching circuit above 100 kHz with Current Injection Active Noise Cancelling, resulting in low ripple and reduced electromagnetic interference. A four-layer printed circuit board layout physically separates motor, digital, and LED ground paths to minimize signal contamination and enhance rotational accuracy.
